This is for you, so I’m happy to add more value that you find important or interesting! The only thing I won’t add to this are recipes, because I have a whole day of the week (Mondays) devoted to that already. 😉

It’s breaded and fried in the exact same poison. I won’t make this entire news story today about Chick Fil A, but I will discuss this week how there are a number of American ingredients that are banned in many of the countries around the world, including some of what I mentioned in the live video! This should concern you deeply! I am including an older article from 2019 that is still worth reading because of the explanation as to how these ingredients are approved. There is much more to read, but these two paragraphs gutted me, even though I knew this to be the case. No matter how many times I read things like this, I can’t believe that this is the horrific level of concern our federal government has for its citizens. You’ll never hear me get political—one party vs another—but I’m never shy about my disappointment and anger over organizations that our tax dollars fund operating with zero concern for our health, though they are in roles where that is the expectation. Their concern is feigned at best, and this alone should anger you.

“For starters, the FDA states that food companies can market new chemicals and food additives WITHOUT FDA oversight or approval, so long as “the substance is generally recognized, among qualified experts, as having been adequately shown to be safe…

This is known as the GRAS system, and it might sound all well and good. But what makes someone a “qualified expert”? And how are they able to determine which chemicals food companies can add to the food we feed our children? It turns out that these companies often convene their own “expert” panels to decide whether the ingredient will pose harm. And many of these panels contain scientists with financial ties to all manner of industries – even including the tobacco industry (“experts” who may have, at one time, recommended that cigarettes were safe!). Based on the panel’s recommendations, companies then decide whether or not to share the results of the assessment with the FDA. They don’t even have to do so!”

There is no third party testing, folks. It’s all about the money. If someone is paying you to report that their product is safe for consumption… guess what?! You’re the “qualified expert”! Pretty sick, huh? Once in a while I see companies who do third party testing. Know who they are? The organic companies who have all clean products anyway. Neat how that works!

There are a number of other ingredients banned in other countries which aren’t named in this article, and as I mentioned in the Chick Fil A video, TBHQ, a petroleum derived chemical, is also banned in a number of other countries (Japan, UK, and other EU countries). It has been shown to cause vision disturbances and is highly toxic to the human immune system. You would think in current times when everyone is up in arms about viruses spreading in massive proportions, there would be steps taken to—perhaps—ban ingredients that make us more susceptible to contracting viruses when our immune systems are compromised. This ingredient is found in so many foods we consume, and feed our children. It’s used in many oily and fatty processed foods to extend the shelf life. In fact, it’s TBHQ that is sprayed on McDonald’s Chicken McNuggets so they still look the same when you find them under your car seat 2 years after one of your kids lost it there.

It is always best to avoid ALL chemicals in our foods, because we were not created to process them. Our bodies are clueless what to do with all of these foreign substances we feed ourselves, hence the reason why our bodies revolt with inflammation, pain, headaches, chronic skin conditions, hormonal imbalances, excessive weight & disease. Eating clean doesn’t mean getting rid of these fun foods. It just means we limit our trust on who we allow to make them for us. My chicken nuggets beat the heck out of McDonald’s by a long shot. Trust me. Real food tastes amazing!

Client spotlight: Sometimes I have a client who struggles with so much more than your basic inflammatory processes. I recently had a lady who just could not get rid of her gastric distress no matter how much we proceeded with only anti-inflammatory clean foods. I put her through an intensive two week anti-candida detox, and guess what? Case closed. I was so grateful we were able to figure out her situation, because—quite honestly—I take it so personally when things aren’t improving in someone’s life, because that isn’t the norm.

There are times (though rare) that a simple detox isn’t enough. This is why I follow everyone so closely to be sure we can eliminate other possibilities if necessary. If you are unaware what can happen in the case of candida overgrowth, candida is a fungus that naturally lives in our bodies, but too much of it is a bad thing – and boy do those little suckers LOVE sugar & chemicals! Someone can have candida overgrowth for a number of reasons: foreign chemicals in our bodies, steroids, antibiotics, alcohol, birth control pills, estrogen replacement, stress, recreational drugs, and poor diet. As you see, switching up to a clean diet often knocks several of these possible causes out, which is why many folks who come to me with this are over it in their basic detox. But, an intensive candida cleanse is sometimes needed. Other indications you have severe candida overgrowth include frequent yeast infections, skin eruptions, extreme exhaustion – just to name a few.

You may notice that the Facebook Group’s name changed to reflect a part of this to “Simplify Clean Eating with Massey Wellness”. The most prominent part of the title on the book cover is “Simplify Clean Eating”, so this made sense. I received some amazing news of possibilities regarding how this book may be distributed today that literally had my jaw on the ground. Keep this project in your prayers, please. This is incredible how it is evolving!
