Hey friends! Happy Thursday!
The University of California – Davis Health released study results last month indicating that someone who has high blood pressure (130/80 or greater) in their 30’s has a greater risk of poor brain health in their 70’s.
Here’s the article:
Hypertension in 30’s Affects Brain Health in 70’s
My most favorite quote of this study: “This study truly demonstrates the importance of early life risk factors, and that to age well, you need to take care of yourself throughout life — heart health is brain health,” said Rachel Whitmer, senior author of the study.
Why do I love this quote? Because it represents the control we can take over our own health decades before more severe conditions are shown. I know in my 30’s I didn’t pay very much attention to my health. I cared about the size in my jeans, the number on a scale, and how I looked in the mirror—only. I didn’t care about the “silent” metrics. I don’t think I’m alone in this. If we as a society do a better job of recognizing that it’s really about HEALTH, the rest will follow. AND we’ll live more vibrant lives as we age.
I don’t know about you all, but at 49 years old, I have resigned myself to a focus not at all about quantity of years, but quality of years. Having a mom with early stage Alzheimer’s and witnessing the suffering she endures when she repeats herself frequently, forgets what she did and said just moments earlier, losing her independence, and so much more—there is no way I want this for myself, or for my children to endure when I age. Knowing there are lifestyle changes I can make today to help prevent that torture later in life just makes me want to do what I can now! The world needs to know this! So many put their heads in the sand, but this needs to be said loudly for the people in the back (or for the ostriches.)
Client Spotlight:
I just spent a weekend with many many friends, and many past clients. Having so many people approach my husband and me sharing how their lives have been changed with the 16 Week Transformation Program was the greatest gift I could have ever asked for. I think what I loved the most was hearing how many people have shifted to a HEALTH mindset and away from weight, simply enjoying the weight loss as a beautiful added bonus!

Weekly Scripture:
“So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it.”
~Colossians 3:13 MSG
Have an amazing week, friends!
