Hey friends!

As you know, I have been sending out the Massey’s Monday Meal for well over a year now consistently, but I have no consistency to my other messages I send. I decided that if I have something I want to share – rather than have no emails some weeks and a bunch another week, I’ll put it all into a weekly newsletter on Thursday mornings.

This is where I’ll share program updates, seminar and webinar dates, client spotlight, book information, updated products available on the website, highlights from what I’ve shared on social media over the previous week and any health related news that may be notable.

I hope you’ll appreciate this new value I add to your inbox. And, as always, if you don’t feel like reading it for whatever reason, you have a scroll and delete button! But, I hope you’ll find this information beneficial. Especially for those of y’all who miss a lot of what I share because you aren’t active on social networks.

If you are reading this on my website, be sure to “subscribe to my newsletter” while you’re here!

In the news: In honor of this being National Heart Health Month, I went through a fantastic article in the AARP magazine about how lifestyle is the greatest factor in correcting & preventing poor cardiovascular health. If you missed my live on this topic, it was long but detailed. If you’re interested in watching it, and missed it. Here’s the link to that video:

Here are the 10 best ways to support your heart health holistically, according to Health.mil (a military health information website)  https://www.health.mil/News/Articles/2021/02/26/10-ways-to-support-holistic-heart-health :

  1. Get moving! 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week! If you are a couch potato, follow my rule of “move more than before” and do SOMETHING! Work your way up to this!
  2. Make healthy food choices! I think y’all know where I stand on this! The doctor in this article recommends focusing more on adding healthy foods rather than what you should restrict. In theory I like his recommendation, because if you truly do add HEALTHY NUTRIENT DENSE foods, you won’t be hungry enough to eat garbage, but as you know I am a big advocate of 100% clean nutrition, and have proven time and again how this helps decrease inflammation and improves health.
  3. Know your family’s medical history! This is not to be used as an excuse of “well, I’m just going to die of a heart attack like my parents!” Absolutely false. Many genetics studies prove that your family history only has 5-10% increased risk in people who live a healthy lifestyle. Use your family’s medical history to know what your risks are, and seek out what you need to prevent that which you have a higher risk for. Case in point – cancer and Alzheimers kills almost everyone in my family – so I have a lifestyle that won’t feed cancer and brain disease with processed foods, and I make sure I get adequate healthy fats to give my brain what it needs!
  4. Get enough sleep. If you are living a healthy lifestyle, avoiding caffeine after noon, exercising regularly, meditating/relaxing/praying at night, avoiding processed foods, utilizing herbal teas when necessary, you are going to sleep so much better! Also, avoid your phone in your bed, and set a bedtime and stick to it! Finally, drop your temperature in your house a few degrees at night. You nearly had to fight this southern girl to set the house on 69 degrees at night, but I tell ya, it really has worked for us! I’ve slept like a baby! It’s recommended by everyone in any health organization to get at least 7 hours of sleep nightly, but this varies with each individual.
  5. Keep your cholesterol under control. See #2! More specifically, healthy fats are good! Increase your dietary fiber! Avoid processed foods! My clients ACROSS THE BOARD have improved cholesterol, and once in a blue moon we have to take some added steps for some folks, but 95% of the time, just eating the way I teach decreases total cholesterol, LDL, and triglycerides in a big way!
  6. Manage diabetes. Same! See #2! Increase dietary fiber! Avoid processed foods! Intermittent fasting minimum 12 hours daily! Are you seeing the trend here? Eat like I teach everyone and your diabetes will be managed beautifully! Why is this a factor for heart health? Sustained elevated blood sugars cause deterioration of blood vessels & damage to the nerves that control the heart. This is a MASSIVE factor!
  7. Monitor your mental health. Stress is a huge factor! As is our response to stress—are you a stress overeater? Over drinker? Make poor dietary decisions when you’re upset? Not having a healthy response to mental health converns can have a long lasting effect on our cardiovascular health. Also, poor diet (here we go again) also affects our cortisol levels, which affects our serotonin & dopamine levels, and when they’re out of whack, our mental health suffers. See how it’s cyclical? ThisMUST NOT be ignored!
  8. Quit smoking or never start! I want to say “duh” here, but having smokers in my family my whole life, as was I as a youngin, I am thrilled to share that your negative cardiovascular risk greatly decreases just one year after quitting… so QUIT! TODAY! NOW!
  9. Drink alcohol in moderation or not at all. We’ve all heard that wine is good for heart health. The research is mixed, and it’s believed that as long as you stick to no more than 1-2 glasses daily of alcohol for men and no more than 1 glass daily for women (liquor or wine, not beer or fru-fru cocktails mixed with sugary garbage), then alcohol should not affect your heart. This is 1 glass daily… not 7 glasses once a week. Excess alcohol has been linked to elevated triglycerides negatively affecting your heart, so if you already have borderline or elevated triglycerides, your best bet is to avoid it altogether.
  10. Be aware of your blood pressure. This is often inflammation related folks! I see it EVERY SINGLE WEEK when I have someone who reduces their inflammation eating the way I teach them, and once we determine their inflammatory triggers, then their blood pressure drops! Think about it! If you have increased inflammation in your body, your blood vessels have more to fight against, increasing the workload thus increasing the blood pressure! Decrease the inflammation, your heart and blood vessels don’t have to work as hard to pump blood through an inflammation free body! It’s life changing!

Client spotlight: Every week I’m going to mention something notable that happened in the previous week with one of my clients. Sometimes it may include names, often it will be anonymous, as it is this week. One of my clients who just started working with me came to me with a tremendous amount of inflammation, significant medical concerns, and her doctors keep throwing lots of crazy expensive medicines at her for “sugar intolerance”. How about WEEK ONE we decreased so much inflammation in her body with her initial detox that she dropped 16 pounds in her first week? No, this is not typical, but this is just another display of just how incredibly healing eating the right foods can be – and quickly! So many people have no idea just how much inflammation can affect every aspect of their health! Seeing the results when we switch them to the proper foods is absolutely priceless!

Book launch: I had 95 of my original 104 folks on my book launch team read my book who sent me testimonials and I am so ecstatic over the feedback! Some of their helpful feedback led to some great changes, as well as gave me the confidence to know I’m headed down the right path with my message! I can’t wait for you all to have the opportunity to get it in your hands in the next few weeks! I’m being told that the paperback launch should be around March 7! Stay tuned!

Program Updates: I did share yesterday live on Facebook about my recent program updates – and one that isn’t happening in the timeframe I’d hoped. I’m explaining below.

First of all, I’ve recently added a 6 Week Detox and Trigger Food Testing Program, that is PERFECT for folks who are otherwise relatively healthy, don’t need support with weight loss, but just want to feel better and improve their energy, and maybe overcome some minor health concerns. This program walks you through a full detox and tests you for potential trigger foods through a slow reintroduction process, which has been extremely effective in determining food inflammatory triggers of many of my current and previous clients. Let me know if you’d like more information about this program!

Secondly, my standard program was supposed to be condensing down into 12 weeks instead of 16. Y’all, I am famous for thinking I’m superwoman and can leap tall mountains of work in a single bound. I have never worked on anything quite so intense as this book publishing process, and I was foolish to think I could redesign my entire web based program piece while all of this was going on. So, the transition to 12 weeks is on hold, and – at earliest – I’ll be reconsidering this change in the summer. That being said, I’ve driven my website folks nuts, and I’ve changed it back to a 16 week program on the website; however, I’m offering the same rate I was going to charge for my 12 week program for anyone who starts no later than February 27th (meaning we have to have you enrolled by the 24th). So start now to save $250 off the paid in full rate or over $500 off the weekly rate!

I still have one opening left for my ULTIMATE program for February enrollments and two openings for March! Remember, this one is more fun (AND WAY LESS EXPENSIVE) with friends! One of my monthly enrollments can be a small group of up to 6 people!

I AM LOOKING FOR SPEAKING OPPORTUNITIES AFTER MY BOOK IS LAUNCHED! ESPECIALLY to Christian Women’s groups! Please let me know if you have a group who would appreciate the message I’m bringing! I’m willing to travel!

Social media updates: As my book launch is approaching, I know I have to step out of my comfort zone in Facebook land and get out there on other platforms, so just this week I started adding content to TikTok, YouTube and Instagram. I’ll include links for these at the bottom in case you’re interested in following me on these platforms.

FINALLY! I am now being found easily on Google thanks to HD Marketing who manages my website. If you’ve ever worked with me—even on a small scale in free webinars, etc, but ESPECIALLY if you are a current or past client, can you please leave a review for me on Google? These things I ask on social media and Google cost you nothing but a few seconds, but could mean the WORLD to me, my family and my business. I appreciate you all more than you know!

Hope you enjoyed this first edition of “Massey’s Magazine”! I’ll see you all on Monday for “Massey’s Monday Meal” as always!
